Add Hidden Objects

My hidden objects are now in my background. It may look like it's easy but some will be hidden while some will not which confuses the player and makes the game more fun.

My background is a basic gray color with a huge shelf with two sections with six baskets that will soon be filled with healthy and unhealthy foods for the hidden objects game.

Paper Prototype Part 1

My background/game scene is in a grocery store on two shelves with baskets full of food unhealthy and healthy foods to trick the player and make my game a hidden objects game. My game will keep the score of the player and how points they lost by clicking on the unhealthy foods and the score they have for clicking on the healthy foods too. There will be a person on the side that will increase in size when they click on unhealthy foods and the person will decrease in size when they click on the healthy foods. If the player collects five healthy foods they win, and if the player collects five unhealthy foods they lose.

Some things in my game or that are gonna be related to my game topic are children because the main topic is about children and their health. Mostly all of the fast food restaurants are the most unhealthy things kids to eat like McDonald's, Popeyes, Sonic, Wendy's, Taco Cabana and many,many more! The most important thing in the game is the healthy foods like carrots, apples, green beans, bananas and many more fruits and vegetables! These are the most important things/items in the game.

Obesity

My learning topic will be obesity and how it affects a huge percent of kids in the U.S. I think this game will be important to kids and their parents because it will help them stay on track with their health and help them inform their friends and family to stay healthy. I also think it is really important to make the rates go down for childhood obesity now!!

Who is Malala?
Malala Yousufzai is a fourteen year old girl from Pakistan.  She began speaking out against the Taliban when she was eleven years old. On Wednesday, she was shot by the Taliban and is now in critical condition. Many say she is very brave, but I think she is more like a hero for the Pakistan women trying to get their education and have the same rights as the men. 


Where does Malala live?
She lives in Swat Valley,Pakistan.  


What are the problems that Malala and her people face each day?
Some problems that Malala and her people face each day are that they could all be killed or seriously hurt every single day!! Or be separated and killed or turned against their own kind.  



*After January 15 girls must not go to school,otherwise the guardians and the school will be responsible

Concluding Thoughts

Why were Malala and her father so overcome with sadness and happiness when they returned to their home in Swat Valley?

They were so sad because there town was completly distroyed!!

What items was Malala most excited about finding when she returned to her home? 

She most excited to see her bed and her books for school.

Why were these items so precious to her? What do they symbolize?

They were so precious to her because they remind her of home and the books reminded her of her dreams to go to school and follow her dreams.

When did the school reopen?

The school reopened in August. 

How many schools remained closed? 

Over 200 schools didn't reopen in August.

What does Malala now want to be when she grows up?

She changed her dream of being a doctor to being a politician. 

Presidential Debate 1

My thoughts on the Presidential Debate is that they brought up many important topics that really need to be talked about and the debate was really interesting!

 Some issues that were brought up were, Healthcare, the economy,taxes, jobs,the government, Obama-care,education,reforms,the army,economic growth,dept, deficits,Medicare,Medicaid are just some of the issues brought up in the debate.

I understood that there are many problems in the economy and in many other places in the government.

Some of the language they use was confusing and some of the topics I didn't really know to much about since I'm young but mostly all of the debate was pretty understandable.

I think President Obama expressed his feelings and views because Mitt Romney kept repeating himself and didn't answer some of the questions and didn't really benefit elderly people! Romney also changed some of the things that he already said and made it really confusing!! So in-conclusion I think President Obama is in a better situation to continue being president!!

Play To Learn Part 1

I learned from these games that if you take a lot of time drawing and putting in the code for a game with make the game very fun and make many people want to play your game. I also learned that a game is more fun when you have to look for the correct answers!
Some ideas I got for my own games are putting a scavenger hint type game for the player to find hidden objects in the game. Another idea I got was to spent time on the characters and enemies so the game looks good to the player while playing.

Danger of a Single Story

1. What does it mean to have a 'single story' about a place or community?  It means to hear one story and thinks its like that for everyone where the story took place or a stereo type story.
2. Describe a single story you have heard told about your community. What is missing from that story? How could people learn more about that community?  I heard a story about the times when African Americans were slaves and they said that most to all African Americans were slaves back then. The story was missing the parts when African Americans weren't slaves and they escaped to freedom. People could learn more about their community by getting biography's by people who actually went through it and they come look it up an trusted sites and learn more their communities.
3. Describe a single story you have heard about another community. How did you learn that story? How could you find out more about that community?  Another story was about Mexicans and how we all snuck across the broader to the US. I read this story on a untrustable site on the computer. You could find out more about this community by different biography and true stories.
4. How could a game let players experience many stories about a place or community?  You could make a game about their real life actions and each level change the action so they see what they actually do in real life.

A New Year

My school year has so far been great!! My classes are okay, I don't like some teachers but I guess I'm gonna have to get use to them. I hope to accomplish being in volleyball, basketball, cheer-leading and then in soccer. I also have to have good grades to be in sports so another accomplishment that I have to have is good grades and respect to my teachers and the faculty. So those are some goals and accomplishments i want to do this year. 

Spirit of The Marathon

Spirit of the Marathon

The Spirit of The Marathon was about how six people trained for the Chicago Marathon for many weeks. A marathon is a running competition that many people run in for many different reasons like to win! I think Deena Kastor's story was the most interesting because she had competed before and won and she was having pressure to win again and she did! I think most of the people in the video wanted to be in the marathon to show themselves that they could finish and feel great that they did. On the other hand the people who did if for fame I feel was Deena and Daniel because they were already awarded for their running so they just did it to beat their time to get even more recognition. I would love to say to myself that I completed a marathon and could feel good inside from people cheering you on and the medal that you get after from completing the marathon! I would practice and get into a marathon when I felt ready. The phase, "It's a marathon not a spirit" I think it means that it actually feels real when you are there running and the people on the sidewalks shouting you name and cheering for you until the end!! The spirit part is about that it does not feel fake at all! 

My Game

Our game was about, how cow's are treated horrible in the slaughter houses likes how they feed them corn and mistreat them. Our first level the player was suppose to get the cow from hay stack to hay stack without letting the farmer touch them, then it goes to the you win page and button to the next level. The second level you had to escape the farmer as well as the corn, if you hit the corn then will automatically to the you lose page when you got to the end it said '"safety", when landed on the safety area you would go to the you win page and it will have a button to go to the next level. On the third level you get the cow away from the farmer and corn and try to get to the green grass.
What we could of done better was the ability to get to each level easier and made the grass add points for the player. I think what we did good was the drawings and the backgrounds and making the rest of the game work correctly.

Final Game Reflection

  I have learned many things in the little time I was here in Globaloria. Some things are, learn how to do different tricks on the computer, and how to use a Google picture and make other layers and actually draw and make the picture look exactly like the image, and the main thing is that I learned how to work in groups and combine all of our work together. 

  I also learned many new things in Flash like making a platform game with many pictures and hand drawn characters and making a fun challenging game. I learned from Flash that small mistakes are hard to find and big mistakes are easier to find and fix.

  I gotten better at many things like, working with others and letting them help me because I really like to do things on my own and I learned that I really do need some help sometimes. Also, I learned how to get video's off the wiki to help me instead of asking for help from a teacher.

  I think I got better at asking for help from team mates and getting help off of the wiki video's than asking for the teacher's like I did in the beginning. So I think I have done better than in the begging of starting Globaloria .

   I learned that cows are being fed corn and that the companies just do that to make more money off of their meat. We tried to teach the player to not let the cow eat the corn or let the farmer touch them.
  I learned that I can really do more on computers than I ever thought I could! Now I can help other people with their problem with their computer issues.
  I think the most challenging part of Globaloria is figuring out what you did wrong in your code and fixing it.

Video Games in Somali

In this article video games are now in use and are getting teenage boys out of trouble. I think it is a good ideas for the parents to buy a game station or let their kids play on the station if they do not want their kids to go to war which parents don't want!!!

Food Inc.

1. I learned that the chickens are treated horribly because they are feed chemicals to make them fatter to sell faster. I learned that the chicken farmers are also treated horribly because the owners of the company act like they own the farmers who grow their chickens. I think they are treated that way because the company is the one who has the big bucks so they think they can just boss the little farmers around and tell them what to do. I think what we can do about it is to strike against chicken.

2. I learned that cows are treated worst than chickens because they cant even eat their normal food which is grass now that they are at the slaughter houses they have to eat corn which makes them fatter for a cheaper price in a faster time. I think this is because all the company wants is the meat to sell for money and they don't really care how they treat the animals as long as they get their money. I think we can also strike on the cow meat since they are treated so horribly!

3. I think the rate for diabetes is higher for minorities because they have less income to the rest of people so they do not have the money to buy the healthy products so they buy the unhealthy cheap food from the fast food restaurants.

4. Most of the people who work in the meat packing factories are minorities and ileagal immigrants because the pay for the job is good. And they are treated like dirt because they are usually not from here.

5. The Monsanto Company is the company that makes the weed killer products and when farmers weren't buying their products then they genetically changed the seeds so that if the weed killer was on them they wouldn't die. So everyone knows that every farmer grows their plants then saves the seeds from the previous seasons then grows more of those same plants, so Monsanto said since they genetically changed the first set of seed so the new set of seed were also Monsanto's too! They are important because if we started farming we would also have the same problems as the farmers now are having.

6. The diabetes concept you can make a game to teach people to buy healthy food instead of the unhealthy foods. The person in everyday life to represent a person would be the hero. The unhealthy food would be the enemy in the game. The goal would be to stay healthy!! Healthy food is what you would have to collect to earn points.         

Platform Game Project

In the last three weeks we worked on our platform games. So far my favorite part about working on my project was that we got to choose what we wanted are charater to look like and we had to get our own game working. On the other hand my least favorite things to do were to get the code then finally figure out where we messed up and fix it to get the game working properly. Over all I have really enjoyed learning to work on Flash and be able to make my charater move and jump! While working on Flash I have learned that one little mistake on the code can effect how the game works, which was really frustrating!! The thing I learned about myself was that I really do not need a teachers help when fixing mine and others codes. To be truthful I have to say the project was a little bit of both easy and hard, it was easy when we drew our background and charater/hero but it was hard when we had to fix the code and look closely at the little mistakes I made.
